She is currently completing her MA ESL capstone research on Cultural Dissonance and Elder Learners in Beginning Language and Literacy Classrooms. She launched Elder Literacy Initiative as part of an AmeriCorps VISTA project with CommonBond Communities. Lisa has been continuously inspired by elder learners and is committed to creating innovative language learning opportunities for adults of all ages.

 

Missy Staloch   Missy Staloch is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. She is working towards her masters in Elementary Education at the University of Minnesota. She is very passionate about literacy and enjoys combining what she is learning at the University of Minnesota to help meet the needs of adult learners at CommonBond Communities and other learning communities.

 
byoung_300-1   Burgen Young has trained hundreds of literacy volunteers to tutor adult English learners as the ESL Training coordinator for the Minnesota Literacy Council. She has a dual MA in TESOL and Linguistics from Ball State University. Burgen is passionate about teaching people how to teach and loves working with literacy volunteers because she gets to see the best in people.
